Slow cooling – easy on the muscles
When your dog is active large amounts of blood are circulated to the muscles, and the dog becomes warm. But when the activity ends, the cooling process to a normal body temperature begins. If the cooling process is too rapid, the muscles contract before the circulatory system can remove all the lactic acid and waste products etc. This can cause injury to your dog. Exerted muscles feel better if they are subjected to slow cooling. Just compare to the athlete who quickly puts on something to protect from the cold after performing.
